President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Macky Sall of Senegal on his re-election for a second term.

The President commends the people of Senegal on the successful and peaceful conduct of the presidential election, noting that the scenario of successful elections in West African countries is a sign of hope that democracy has come to stay in the sub-region.

Pres. Buhari Re-Elected for another 4 years

President Muhammadu Buhari has pronounced winner of this year’s presidential election.

Mr Buhari who defeated his predecessor to clinch the position in 2015 general election has again trounced his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The president polled 15,191,847 votes from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the 36 states in the country to defeat the former vice president who got 11,262,978 votes. PolitricksNews reported the stage by stage official results as announced by the electoral body.

PDP Legal Team Summons Emergency Meeting


The legal team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned an emergency meeting for Tuesday, TheCable understands.

Coming on the heels of the rejection of the presidential election result by the main opposition party, the meeting is expected to discuss the next line of action.

The notice of meeting was sent by Kabir Turaki, former minister of special duties who unsuccessfully sought the presidential ticket of the PDP for the 2019 election.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the State Government has written to the International Criminal Court to prosecute the General Officer Commanding ( GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Jamil Sarhem for prosecution for crimes against humanity.

Governor Wike said instead of running in circles, the GOC should explain to Nigerians the reasons why the 6 Division stormed Collation Centres in Ikwerre, Emohua and Okrika Local Government Areas with INEC Electoral Officers, accusing him of stealing electoral materials and concocting results.

Nigerians went to the polls on 23 February, with President Muhammadu Buhari (APC) expected to face a strong challenge from Atiku Abubakar (PDP) in the presidential contest. To be declared the winner, a candidate needs a majority of votes cast, and at least 25% of the votes in 24 or more of the 36 states.
